The media giant 21ѕt Сеnturу Fох Іnс. has agreed to acquire the British Ѕkу Рlс for 1.7 billion pounds (14.6 billion dollars), according to Bloomberg agency.
The American company, owned by billionnaire Rupert Murdoch, already owns a 39-percent share of the London-based television.
For the rest, Murdoch’s company will pay 10.75 pounds per share, it was recently announced. In comparison, this price is 36% higher that the closing-down price on Dec. 8th.
The deal ensures additional platform for the distribution of Fox media products. Sky has 21.8 million subscribers in the markets in Britain, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria.
This takeover will “create a global leader in content creation and distribution”, was Fox’s statement.
The company is planning to let the TV’s headquarters stay in Britain and complete a 1-billion-pound investment.
