US billionnaires have amassed their wealth the most. The end of 2016 saw the world’s wealthiest people even wealthier by $237 billion, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index. On an annual basis, this is a 5.7% increase.
Their total wealth amounts to $4.4 trillion.
US billionnaires are leaders among rich people getting richer. Warren Buffet heads the list by rate of wealth growth. His wealth grew by $11.8 billion. or 19%, and reached $71.4 billion. This is largely due to the increase of the share values of his holding Berkshire Hathaway after Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential race.
Bill Gates is second, having added $9.3 billion to his wealth, which already amounts to $91.1 billion. Petrol magnate Harold Hamm is third, having acquired another $8.2 billion and now owning $15.1 billion.
The Top 5 is completed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Frenchman Bernard Arnault.
