The actor who portrayed the dad of Kevin McCallister in a set of Home Alone movies, John Heard, has died at age 72.
The Santa Clara Medical Examiner’s office supported Heard’s departure, Variety reports. TMZ adds that the actor was seen dead in his Palo Alto, California hotel room days after Heard failed back surgery, his rep stated.
The film has gained a reputation as a classic.
Toward the end of the decade, Heard seen his niche providing depth whether as Tom Hanks’ nemesis in Large or Bette Midler’s husband in Beaches.
Rosanna Arquette, who played Heard’s girlfriend After Hours (even though they did not appear onscreen collectively), composed on Facebook, “Rest In Peace John Heard. Brilliant artist. You made me laugh. heartbroken.”
Nevertheless, Heard will be kept in mind as Macaulay Culkin’s dad Peter McCallister at the 1990 smash ‘Home Alone’ and its 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
“At the moment, we didn’t understand the film was funny,” Heard said of this function to Baltimore Media Blog. “We had been playing the parents that lost their child, so we did not expect how funny-stupid we could be.”
Most recently, Heard appeared on the police drama APB, although the actor was set to appear.
